Overview

Project Scheduler role within the LCST Programme. Hybrid role (Bristol main office/work from home).

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Project Scheduler to work independently and alongside the Programme and Project Managers for the LCST (Logistics Commodities & Services Transformation) contract. The Scheduler leads planning, coordination, and execution of projects by developing, maintaining, and analysing project schedules. You will work closely with Project Managers, Program Managers, technical leads, and stakeholders to ensure realistic timelines, managed dependencies, and effective progress monitoring. This role supports accurate forecasting, proactive risk identification, and informed decision-making to enable successful delivery.

The LCST Programme Governance (P3M) supports a £6Bn programme delivering essential services to Defence and Front-Line Commands. The role contributes to maturing scheduling capabilities and ensuring change is scoped, resourced, and executed while maintaining operational output.

The Project Scheduler will help lead, mature, and execute new ways of working to maintain programme output while enhancing scheduling maturity across the team.

Location: Hybrid role (Bristol main office/work from home).

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project (Desktop and/or Project Server/Project Online).
  • Support project planning sessions to define scope, deliverables, and scheduling requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input, manage dependencies, work effort, and logically sequence activities.
  • Maintain schedule integrity, including critical path analysis, milestone tracking, and float management.
  • Provide regular reporting on schedule status, variance analysis, and forecasts to project stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess scheduling risks and issues; recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment between project schedules and resource plans, cost forecasts, and business objectives.
  • Assist teams in resource effort-based estimates.
  • Support integrated programme-level planning and reporting where required.
  • Apply project management best practices and contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling processes.
  • Work with PMO to maintain schedule standards, templates, and governance requirements.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Scheduler in complex project environments (preferred within Technology, Engineering, Defence or similar industries).
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project (including Project Server or Project Online preferred).
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and lifecycle types (Waterfall / Agile).
  • Experience in developing and managing integrated project schedules with multiple workstreams and interdependencies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in resource planning would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with portfolio or programme planning tools and reporting dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Project Online, Excel-based trackers).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Professional certification in project management or scheduling (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP, APM, or equivalent).
Security and Compliance
  • BPSS pre-screening required to start.
  • SC (Security Clearance) required for the role.

Pay Information

Pay range: £44,700.00 – £57,300.00. This range is a guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Offers consider responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.
