Job summary

An organization supporting individuals with autism in Belfast is seeking a Project Officer. This role involves providing tailored interventions to help young people and adults with ASD become more independent. Candidates should have relevant qualifications in psychology or community work and experience working with individuals with autism. A driving license and access to a car are required, with accommodations for candidates with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • RQF level 6 or equivalent and 1 year's experience working with ASD.
  • Alternatively, RQF level 4 and 3 years' experience with strategies for social interaction.
  • Full current driving license valid in the UK and access to a car.

Job description

Right 4 U aims to build and strengthen the capacity of young people and adults with autism to engage in activities within their local communities. The objectives of the Right 4 U Service is to support young people and adults with ASD to gain practical experience to improve their lives so that they are empowered to become more self-reliant.

Responsibilities
  • The Project Officer will provide a range of interventions that will enable individuals engaging in the service (adults and young people) to overcome barriers and become more independent.
  • Support is both on a 1-1 basis and groups.
Skills and Qualifications
  • RQF level6 or equivalent in Psychology, Education, Community work, HSC or relevant discipline professional qualification AND 1 yrs paid experience working with individuals with ASD to include developing strategies to enhance their social interaction.
  • OR: RQF 4 or equivalent in Psychology, Education, Community work, Health & Social Care or a relevant discipline AND 3 years’ experience as above.
  • Ability to work independently with good organisational, communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in IT skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Hold a full current driving license valid for use in the UK and Ireland and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of a suitable applicant who has a disability which prohibits them from driving.
