Job description
Overview

Project Officer – Islands Centre for Net Zero, Western Isles
37 hours per week, Fixed Term until 31 March 2029
£38,452 to £42,465 per annum (inclusive of £2,859 Distant Islands Allowance per annum)

A Project officer is required to support the delivery of the Islands Centre for Net Zero project funded by the Island Growth Deal in the Outer Hebrides, in collaboration with delivery partners, maximising and implementing capital and research & development decarbonisation projects across the Islands to accelerate the Outer Hebrides net zero ambitions.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with ICNZ delivery partners and stakeholders, locally and across the partner Islands Growth Deal area/organisations.
  • Establish active engagement and sound knowledge sharing practices across the local decarbonisation landscape, ensuring added value and maximisation of ICNZ initiatives and opportunities.
  • Compile, assess and process claims for the ICNZ OH Project and delivery partners, ensuring compliant audit processes and good budget monitoring.
Knowledge and Skills / Qualifications
  • Understands net zero aims and local issues affecting uptake of initiatives; knowledge of key economic and community issues impacting Outer Hebrides communities; awareness of the Scottish Government’s Energy and Climate Change policy actions.
  • Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to present information verbally to engage a range of audiences, especially those experiencing barriers to adoption of net zero.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills to manage a diverse workload, meet targets and deadlines, organise events, publicity and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work effectively on a diverse range of projects.
Salary and Appointment

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade.
