Job Description
ALink Recruitment is working with a small to medium-sized engineering consultancy seeking several Project Managers. These managers will lead project delivery or specific packages within complex programmes, reporting to the Senior Project Manager or Portfolio Manager. You will work closely with external clients, key stakeholders, and internal teams. Your responsibilities include taking full ownership of project delivery, providing guidance, and mentoring Assistant Project Managers to develop core project management skills.
You will represent the company at client-facing meetings with confidence and credibility. Your key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality project and programme management services.
- Managing all project phases from initiation to closeout, either independently or with minimal supervision on larger or complex projects.
- Managing consultant teams and stakeholders to ensure responsibilities such as project scope, deliverables, and reporting are effectively completed.
- Assisting in generating repeat business and developing new opportunities, including bids.
- Delivering diligent, efficient, and detail-oriented project support and outputs.
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Supporting client relationships and service delivery in collaboration with senior colleagues.
- Providing consistent and sound commercial reporting internally and to clients.
- Ensuring projects meet client requirements, are delivered on time and within budget, and adhere to quality standards.
- Managing change control processes.
Essential Criteria
- Degree-level education in project management or a construction/engineering-related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in project management, project planning/controls, or engineering.
- Experience managing projects within the rail and construction industries.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Technical project management knowledge with demonstrated experience and aptitude.
- A positive, innovative approach and ability to work independently.
- Analytical and methodical problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Project, for report and information preparation.
- A desire to build a career in project management.
- Knowledge of TfL Pathway or Network Rail GRIP, PACE systems is desirable.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of TfL or Network Rail standards, systems, and procedures.
- Understanding of rail processes.
- Experience with bids, tenders, and proposals.
- Progress towards professional membership (e.g., ICE, CIOB, APM).
- NEC or other project management accreditation.
- Experience in complex stakeholder environments.
