Job description
Project Manager - HR

£28.86 to £33.05 per hour - PAYE £39.00 to 44.50 per hour – Umbrella Inside IR35 Full time 6 Month Contract Initially London / Hybrid

An experienced Project Manager is required for a leading institution, with expectations aligned to Big 4 consultancy delivery standards. This is not a role suited to someone who has only undertaken project administration or worked exclusively on IT projects. The majority of work centres on culture change, organisational improvement, and structured HR transformation. You will need a comprehensive project delivery toolkit and the ability to support project owners through a disciplined, methodical and outcome-focused approach.

With the current postholder leaving shortly, we require someone who can join quickly and hit the ground running. As HR Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in evolving how HR prioritises, plans and delivers its work. You will oversee a portfolio of HR projects as well as the organisation’s ‘termly increment’ planning cycle. This will involve designing, delivering and monitoring progress against prioritised initiatives, while providing solutions, support and clarity when needed.

A significant part of this role involves supporting and coaching agile projects across product, service or multi-disciplinary teams. You will bring the right people together, using influence, confidence and decisiveness to maintain delivery momentum and ensure timely outcomes.

As a Project or Programme Management professional, you will bring:
  • Proven background delivering HR projects in large, complex environments—ideally within Higher Education, NHS, Local Authority or similarly structured sectors
  • Experience delivering Human Resources projects and services using Agile methods (e.g., SAFe, Scrum)
  • Confidence in managing multi-disciplinary teams and influencing diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong financial oversight capability (budgets, reporting, forecasting)
  • The ability to translate complex customer needs into clear, actionable user stories
  • A naturally curious, analytical and improvement-focused mindset
  • A structured, disciplined approach to project management with strong delivery focus
You will also be able to demonstrate:
  • Strong interpersonal skills including facilitation, collaboration and clear communication
  • Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Miro etc., including coaching others in Agile practices
  • Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) and a recognised Project Management qualification (PMP, APM, Prince2 etc.)
If this role is of interest and you meet the above criteria, then please apply immediately.
