Welcome to the Boots Operations Development team- an exciting team at the heart of Boots UK's Central Operations Function. We're focusing on efficient processes and smart technology investments to make our Team Members jobs easier and drive improved KPIs across the whole of the Retail Operation.

About the role

As a Project Manager you will be integral to the development of our stock availability strategy and stock control processes. Reporting into the Head of Retail Operations Development, and working alongside numerous business teams, you will support the development and creation of our future inventory accuracy capabilities.

Part of a dedicated development and implementation team, you will be responsible for identifying future opportunities and managing proof of concept trials from inception through to roll out.

Previous projects have included the development of our MyStock stock management processes, the roll out of new hardware across the estate and process improvements. You will be instrumental in driving change to remove complexity and create capacity for store teams to enable them to focus on value adding customer and sales activity.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting the creation of a pipeline of projects to support the functional ambition - to improve customer availability, reduce process workload and deliver additional stock management capabilities
  • Responsibility for initiative delivery involving multiple teams, ensuring effective collaboration and development from start to finish.
  • Provide clear and concise updates to senior project stakeholders as required for regular status reporting and ad-hoc decision making support.
  • Apply best practices in project management and process change for quality project delivery & lead continuous improvement of processes.
  • Lead and chair workshops with multiple senior, technical, product and business stakeholders and own the communication of the outputs (actions and key points) to relevant stakeholders.
  • Be comfortable where conflicting calls on your time exist.
What you'll need to have
Project Leadership
  • Proven experience leading a project in a retail environment
  • You can align business objectives (customer experience, operational efficiency, compliance) with technology delivery milestones.
  • You can align multiple third parties (POS vendor, systems integrator, payments provider, networking vendor, internal IT).
  • You have experience in supporting the definition and management of business cases, Return On Investment, total cost of ownership, and benefits realisation.
  • You will be able to connect system changes to business outcomes i.e. Stock Management process and frequencies and impact on workload
Business & Retail Operations Understanding
  • Extensive understanding of store operations, including:
  • Store leadership experience
  • Stock management processes ideally including supply chain experience
  • Awareness of market and technology trends
  • Experience shaping store experience improvements through technology - reducing process friction, improving colleague enablement, and integrating technological solutions & systems.
Behaviours
  • Capable of translating between business and technical teams.
  • Experienced with legacy constraints and complex stakeholder landscapes.
