Job Description

Turner and Townsend is recruiting a Project Manager to lead a high-profile, North West based Energy Infrastructure project. Ideal candidates have experience in the Power and Energy field, or other major infrastructure sectors such as rail, highways, aviation and utilities.

Main Purpose of Role
  • Lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end‑to‑end service delivery on large or complex projects.
  • Provide support on major Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for an aspect of service delivery.
  • Ensure client objectives are met and projects are delivered on time, to cost targets and appropriate quality standards.
Scope

Project Managers handle commissions ranging from £1m to £10m and may work on larger projects. Candidates should be capable of independently delivering small to medium complexity projects with minimal oversight, while accessing the wider expertise of the Turner & Townsend team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise at a strategic level at inception of projects, providing advice on approaches to achieve client objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain project requirements definitions.
  • Establish overall success criteria (time, cost, technical, performance).
  • Establish project governance, processes and systems.
  • Prepare and maintain master project plans.
  • Manage project development in accordance with approved plans and targets.
  • Develop and implement resource plans and procure resources.
  • Lead and facilitate the cross‑functional project team.
  • Apply performance management techniques, including KPIs.
  • Manage the change control process.
  • Agree budgets, control forecasted and actual costs.
  • Manage flow of project information to client via regular meetings and written communications.
  • Identify and monitor risks, planning and implementing mitigations.
  • Prepare formal project progress and other reports.
  • Interface with client, consultants and stakeholders at all project stages.
  • Advise on Health & Safety and Environmental issues.
  • Plan and manage quality, safety, health and environmental issues.
