This is a highly technical and customer‑facing role where you will oversee complex mechanical systems including braking, axles, suspension and cryogenic components, often working with third‑party vendors to ensure projects are executed to the highest standards. You will act as the single point of contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring their requirements are fully understood and delivered. From sales handover through to project completion you will coordinate resources, procurement and schedules while maintaining compliance with contractual obligations and company standards. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams such as engineering, quality assurance, production and finance as well as external suppliers and customers. You will be responsible for managing budgets, cash flows and project margins while providing regular updates to both management and clients. We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled project manager who thrives in dynamic environments, balancing operational detail with strategic oversight. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Howden’s reputation for engineering excellence and customer success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead cryogenic truck repair and overhaul projects nationally, coordinating third‑party vendors and internal teams.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage project cash flows, budgets and margins, providing regular performance reports.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting, repair and testing of cryogenic systems, including piping, valves, insulation and vacuum components.
  • Organise welding, fabrication and calibration tasks with workshop teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts and maintenance schedules for full traceability.
Qualifications

  • PMP / APMP qualification or equivalent project management experience.
  • Proven experience with trailers, ideally cryogenic or specialised systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience using D365 ERP systems.
  • Excellent project management skills, including scheduling, resource allocation and financial control.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to think laterally and implement corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems and cryogenic equipment is a strong advantage.
