Job description
Overview

JOB - Project Engineer
LOCATION - Tredegar
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £37,000-£42,000 per annum

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis in the Tredegar area. This role is central to managing and coordinating projects from design through to completion, working closely with internal and external stakeholders. You'll be involved across the full lifecycle- engineering, procurement, manufacture, fabrication, transportation, and documentation while building and maintaining effective client relationships.

Qualifications/Attributes

The Project Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Prince 2 or equivalent Project Management qualification
  • Relevant engineering Level 3 qualification (NVQ / HNC / HND / Degree or similar) or work-based experience
  • Previous project management experience within an Engineering environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive, self-starter with a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work with staff, managers, and customers at all levels
  • IT literate
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement knowledge, awareness of ISO 9001:2015
Responsibilities

The Project Engineer role will involve:

  • Liaising with Contracts Manager, Head of Projects, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure effective delivery
  • Attending project meetings (kick-off, pre-production, progress) and ensuring follow-up actions are managed
  • Maintaining project schedules, monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and highlighting discrepancies
  • Providing engineering support (design reviews, technical queries, interface management)
  • Managing subcontractors/vendors including inspections, design changes, NCRs, and documentation compliance
  • Ensuring safe working practices and compliance with company Health & Safety policies
  • Overseeing logistics: packaging, transport, and delivery to final destinations (including overseas)
  • Handling client inspections both on and off site
  • Supporting project documentation preparation and submission in line with requirements
