Job summary

A multinational company is looking for a Project Design Engineer based in the UK to provide technical expertise in the design and installation of substation layouts for a range of projects. This is a contract role initially until March 2026, with a competitive daily rate of £515 - £537. The position offers a hybrid work model primarily home-based, with occasional meetings in Birmingham. CK Group are recruiting for a Project Design Engineer to join a multinational multi-industry company on a contract basis initially till the end of March 2026 with a high likelihood of further extension.

Salary :

515 - 537.50 per day (Inside IR35)

To main purpose of this contract will be to provide technical expertise in the design and installation of Substation Layouts for 400kV to 11kV substation projects.

Duties and responsibilities :

• To develop technical specifications and material schedules for primary equipment
• To provide substation layouts and associated detail diagrams in accordance with established UK standards
• To check and approve project documentation
• To produce engineering time estimates and support monthly forecasts to complete.
• To input into design and hazard review meetings

Your Background :

• HNC / HND in related engineering field
• Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV)
• Knowledge of various relevant industry standards including National Grid / SSE / SPEN / DNO requirement
