ERM is seeking a motivated Project Accountant to join our Northern Europe Business Unit based in the UK to support the finance function with general project accounting duties. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and exciting global environmental leader. ERM operates a collaborative environment, and this person will have the opportunity to continuously broaden their exposure and develop a rewarding finance career through working with our consultants and the rest of the Finance Team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general financial support to Project Managers and Partners, including managing budgets and improving KPIs.
  • Oversee the training, development, and performance of the project accounts support team (six people).
  • Act as the key link between the Global Delivery Centre (India) and the Northern Europe Business Unit.
  • Set up and manage projects, including project reviews, reconciliations of variances and WIP, and analysis of costs against budget.
  • Support Project Managers with DSO management, invoicing, and accounts receivable queries.
  • Create and maintain project trackers in Excel.
  • Handle ad‑hoc queries and reporting.
  • Provide ongoing training to Project Managers, Partners, and Administrators on GMS and other financial management tools.
  • Travel within the UK to local offices as required.
Requirements
  • Part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA), BSc in Finance, or ‘Qualified by Experience’.
  • Preferred experience within a large people‑based organisation.
  • Eager to learn and adapt in a changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Pro‑active self‑starter, able to work independently.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analysis and problem‑solving skills.
