Progress Coach - Health and Social Care and Early Years

Salary: £27,166 - £27,820 per annum
Working hours: 37 hours per week
Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours / Friday 7 hours
Weeks per annum: 52 weeks
Location: Abingdon Campus
Contract: Permanent

We're looking for an enthusiastic and supportive Progress Coach to join our Health & Social Care and Early Years team. In this role, you will help students thrive by guiding their personal development, monitoring their progress, and supporting them to achieve their next steps. You'll work closely with Study Programme Leads, Student Advisors and teaching staff to ensure students receive timely interventions and the best possible experience.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and group support to monitor performance, remove barriers to learning and help students progress, including action planning and target setting.
  • Deliver Core sessions covering life skills, British Values, Prevent, RSE and social/cultural awareness in line with statutory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, Student Engagement, Careers and external professionals to provide wrap‑around support and appropriate referrals.
  • Support students with study skills, employability skills, work experience, and access to financial, academic, social and emotional support services.
  • Maintain accurate records, communicate clearly with staff, students, parents and employers, and contribute to a positive, supportive college environment as part of the Progress Coach team.
Essential Experience
  • A degree or level 4 qualification.
  • Confident communicating with students, staff, parents and employers.
  • Experience of working effectively within a team.
  • Experience using a Virtual Learning Environment and social media platforms.
  • Level 2 literacy, numeracy and IT (or equivalent).
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection relevant to the role.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working with young people.
  • Ability and willingness to drive the college minibus.
