Overview

Programme Manager

Are you a Programme Manager with extensive knowledge of project methodologies (such as PMP and Agile)? Would you like to be part of a leading global professional services firm? Then look no further.

As a Programme Manager you will have responsibility for all aspects of your assigned programme. You will monitor cost, scheduling, and technical performance of component projects and operations, working to ensure the ultimate success of the programme. You will determine and coordinate the sharing of resources among constituent projects for the overall benefit of the programme. You will drive programmes and projects to completion within agreed timescales, ensuring that benefits and outcomes align with expectations and formal governance requirements.

You’ll need to be innovative, demonstrating not just a technical ability to follow a programme and project methodology but the confidence and skill to tailor the delivery approach to match challenges as they occur. Hands-on ownership with a critical eye for detail is key to being successful in this role.

What the day will look like
  • Working closely with the Portfolio and Project Managers as well as business leaders to shape and deliver UK strategic projects
  • Manage project teams to ensure successful delivery of programmes and projects whilst ensuring adherence to project management and governance principles
  • Work closely with sponsors and stakeholders, influencing and ensuring delivery against programme and project outcomes
  • Contribute to the development of change methodologies and the operation of the UK Change Team; promote strong project management disciplines and ethos across the organisation
  • Provide insightful reporting on programme and project progress to key collaborators
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Consistent track record in partnering with business leadership in the development and achievement of strategies to solve the business need, using multiple tools including technology
  • Ability to build presentations and write business cases for leadership audiences
  • Experience communicating effectively with different levels of internal and external management while influencing multiple collaborator groups
  • Able to lead multiple priorities concurrently and handle pressure situations effectively and professionally
  • Advanced budgeting/costing knowledge
  • Sophisticated problem-solving tools and methods
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills
  • Extensive experience in contract management and interpretation
  • Extensive understanding of project management methodologies (such as PMP and Agile) and can demonstrate a pragmatic application of these to a given situation
  • The successful initiation, planning, execution, and closure of projects
  • Proven record of leading large and sophisticated change programmes and an understanding of portfolios with relevant industry experience
  • Negotiating with all parts of an organisation to secure resources and/or budget, meet deadlines, attain approvals, embed processes, and handle conflicts
  • Excellent communicator, critical thinker, problem solver and time management skills
  • Facilitation of project meetings with internal colleagues and third parties
  • Extensive insurance or broking environment understanding and experience
