Transport logistics / planning / control (cargo and passenger transport)

DB Cargo are currently recruiting for a Production Support Engineer to join our Engineering function based primarily in Toton (Nottingham) to provide technical support and expertise for our Asset Management & Maintenance function in relation to the maintenance of our wagon fleet within our traction and rolling stock base.

Whilst based primarily in Nottingham, we have 3 main maintenance locations (Toton, Crewe and Stoke) as well as a number of outstations across the UK so our suitable candidate will be flexible with regards to working locations based on business need and a pool car will be provided where necessary when required to work at other locations.

This role sits within our technical engineering function as part of one of the largest Asset Management and Maintenance (AM&M) teams in any UK based Freight Operator. With a headcount of over 800 across AM&M out of 2,200 employees across the whole of DB Cargo UK, this role will be working with a variety of stakeholder and customers across DB Cargo UK.

  • Generation, management and support of Special Checks
  • Vehicle technical inspections and reports
  • Dispensation responsibility whilst observing M&O policy
  • Experiential based review of maintenance facilities
  • Lead/Co-ordinate/Collaborate with cross functional departments (Procurement, Production, Planning, Safety)
Qualifications
  • Ideally you would have technical engineering experience within traction and rolling stock or rail/railways as a wider concept, with practical and applicable knowledge and experience with maintenance plans and schedules.
  • You will be an effective communicator, able to work with fitters and maintainers as well as management levels and demonstrate, as well as technical competencies, the ability to deal with levels of ambiguity, using investigative skills and techniques to effectively problem solve challenges with a collaborative and open approach.
  • A preference would be that you are degree educated in an engineering discipline; however, consideration will be given to candidates with time-served experience within rail for this position.
  • You will be an effective communicator, able to work with fitters and maintainers as well as management levels, and be able to demonstrate technical competencies and the ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively solve challenges with a collaborative and open approach.
