Overview

FastSpring is hiring a Production Support Software Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and keeping systems running smoothly. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in maintaining system stability by triaging, investigating, and resolving technical product issues that arise through our client-facing support teams.

This role requires a strong understanding of system-wide interactions and platform dependencies, with a focus on diagnosing and resolving production issues across the stack. You’ll collaborate closely with multiple scrum teams, contribute to architectural and algorithmic improvements, and play a role in maintaining system reliability.

This position is based in Belfast, with remote work arrangements available.

Responsibilities
  • Apply effective troubleshooting techniques to resolve issues, and thoroughly document all actions taken.
  • Collaborate with customer-facing teams to ensure timely and effective resolution of customer-reported issues.
  • Respond to production incidents and apply continuous improvement practices to drive long-term solutions.
  • Perform advanced query analysis and troubleshooting using relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
  • Build strong relationships and work cross-functionally with stakeholders across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic environment, with a strong sense of ownership from issue identification through resolution.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to support quality and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Maintain flexible working hours to support collaboration with both local and remote team members.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience supporting and maintaining Java-based applications, including release support, issue triage, root cause analysis, and implementing or recommending system fixes.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful services and service-oriented architecture with public APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with unit testing, mocking, and test automation.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, S3, RDS, and DynamoDB; experience with AWS Lambda is a plus.
  • Experience working in Linux environments; knowledge of containers and Docker is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
