Job description

We're on the lookout for a Production Planner to join our well-established client in Loughborough on a full‑time, permanent basis.

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum (depending on experience).

The Role:

As a Production Planner, your key objective is to liaise with the production shop floor, stores and supply chain teams to ensure the timely supply of parts, materials and tooling in a fast‑paced production environment. The purpose of this role is to make sure the right product is in the right place at the right time by regularly reviewing progress on the shop floor to ensure production doesn’t fall behind and deadlines are met.

This role is 30% administrative and 70% shop floor based.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tracking and monitoring material orders.
  • Work closely with production supervisors to proactively identify potential issues that would delay production, such as missing or unclear drawings, absent dimensions or unavailable materials or parts.
  • Coordinate delivery of material ensuring they are delivered when required for manufacturing.
  • Material handling (forklift licence preferred).
  • Chasing missing orders and parts over the phone and via email to suppliers.
Essential Requirements:
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise and schedule work.
  • Must be flexible and versatile in terms of monitoring and moving stock between different departments.
  • Good IT and communication skills to liaise with internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Analytically thinking with the ability to interpret information and respond quickly in a logical and methodological way.
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Self‑motivated and capable of using one’s initiative given the nature of the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
