Production Operative

Production Operatives x50+ required (Dewsbury Area). An opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking project and work in a new state‑of‑the‑art, fast‑paced engineering manufacturing facility commencing in early 2026.

Are you an experienced Production Operative or a hands‑on Assembly Worker with prior experience working with hand‑tools in a manufacturing/mechanical facility? Note: We can't accept production workers from a food factory/FMCG unless you have proven operator experience in mechanical assembly.

Prefer part‑time? We are looking at putting a “Part time DAY” and “Part time EVENING” pattern on to accommodate families, school runs, students, or others needing shorter shift work.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble components using various hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Work with materials, including steel, copper and plastic pipework (conduits, ducting, and pipe spooling).
  • Perform quality inspections and adhere to strict health & safety protocols.
  • Operate cranes and FLTs (Forklift Trucks) – a bonus, but not essential.
Shift Patterns

Part‑time schedules (currently in negotiations by management):

  • DAY: Mon‑Thurs & Fri: 09:30‑14:30 (Fridays TBD).
  • EVENING: Mon‑Thurs & Fri: 17:00‑22:00 (+/‑ start times TBD).

Full‑time hours (if applicable):

  • Mon‑Wed: 07:00‑17:00, Thurs: 07:00‑16:30 (37.5 hours standard, weekly paid).
  • Optional overtime often available on Fridays (at Time + ½).

Qualifications
  • Practical experience with tools and machinery in an engineering, manufacturing or workshop environment.
  • Experience in roles such as Production Operative, Manufacturing Operative, Engineering Labourer, Semi‑Skilled Worker, Assembly Operative or Mechanical/Electrical Assembly Operative.
  • Ability to read technical drawings or a strong willingness to learn.
  • A detail‑oriented, safety‑conscious and team‑focused attitude.
Location & Contract

Shawcross, Dewsbury WF12 (commutable from Wakefield, Horbury, Brighouse, Morley, Cleckheaton, Tingley, North Huddersfield, and possibly Barnsley).

Potential 18‑week temp‑to‑perm contract.

Pay: Starting £12.60 per hour, rising to £12.66 after 5‑week training check‑in, £13.59 after all training modules are completed and a permanent role is taken. (Higher rates coming in April 2026 above £14.00!)
