About Our Client

Our client is a well established, market leading manufacturing company based in Rochdale

Job Description

Reporting to the Site Director and part of the site management team, the Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes run reliably, efficiently and safely. Responsible for delivering production targets, achieving customer on-time delivery, driving continuous improvement and maintaining standards of quality and compliance. This role is responsible for Site Maintenance and Site Services/Facilities Management.

  • Lead and drive production activities across all departments (Fabrication Shop, Machine Shop, Assembly, Stores, Despatch and Maintenance) with a strong focus on delivery, quality, cost and customer requirements
  • Ensure customer delivery requirements are prioritised at all times and external subcontractors are utilised as appropriate
  • Ensure continuous compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards across the business
  • Ensure the requirements of ISO45001 and ISO18001 are managed and controlled appropriately
  • Effective communication and timely actions on workload progress, obstacles and expectations
  • Ensure continuous cooperation and effective communication with Production Engineering, Quality and Planning Departments to promote a 'World Class' manufacturing operation
  • Support supervision and other internal departments to actively address solutions for product, manufacturing processes and design improvements
  • Ensure all resources are used efficiently and effectively and quality standards are maintained
  • Prepare business plans (including Capital Expenditure), financial forecasts and budget for areas of responsibility based on order intake and sales
  • Ensure the maintenance of all machinery, plant and equipment is well-managed via effective systems ie, regular service plans, TPM processes etc
  • Create and scope out all projects to improve building services with a focus on process improvement, sustainability
  • Ensure Site Services (security, cleaning etc) are managed, controlled and are performing effectively
  • Involvement and adherence to people-related processes eg, recruitment, employee relations, performance management etc
  • Facilitate operational and strategic meetings with internal departments, external stakeholders and suppliers/contractors at all levels
  • Actively plan training activities ensuring skills gaps are covered and employee development opportunities are maintained
The Successful Applicant
  • You must be a proven Production Manager in an industrial manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • You must have a recent track record in a similar, permanent leadership role in recent years.
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in engineering would be advantageous
  • Qualified to HNC/HND as a minimum or equivalent experience
  • Professional Management and Leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • NEBOSH or equivalent safety qualification / experience
  • Experience of working within an engineering/manufacturing environment
  • IT Literacy (Microsoft 365, SAP etc)
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent leadership capabilities with the ability to drive and develop the team
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Professional and effective communication skills (verbal and in writing) at all levels
  • Analytical with the ability to collate and explore data
  • Decision making, Problem solving, Customer focus, Results driven, Commercial acumen and Flexible leadership skills
