Job description

We are working with a market-leading precision engineering and manufacturing business that is looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations within their advanced manufacturing facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven production leader with a background in precision machining and assembly to join a forward‑thinking organisation during an exciting period of growth and investment.

The Role

As Production Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of production across CNC machining, cleaning, assembly, quality control, and logistics. You will work closely with Production Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, and Sales to ensure that high‑quality products are delivered to customers on time, every time.

You will lead, motivate, and develop the production team to achieve key performance targets in quality, efficiency, and on‑time delivery while driving a culture of continuous improvement throughout the factory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily production operations across multiple manufacturing areas.
  • Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to deliver against customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop production staff and cell leaders, ensuring high engagement and accountability.
  • Set clear performance expectations and monitor delivery against KPIs.
  • Ensure that all production activities are delivered on time, to specification, and to the required quality standards.
  • Analyse performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate operational resources and address skill gaps through training and development.
  • Maintain process documentation and adherence to ISO 9001 standards.
  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture throughout the production areas.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production management or leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven background in precision engineering, including CNC machining, turning, milling, and assembly.
  • Practical understanding of production series and bespoke process environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing tools and principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Six Sigma and other lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Exposure to production planning and scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of modern manufacturing methods and process improvement techniques.
  • Cross‑functional team leadership experience.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
