Job summary

A UK manufacturer in the life safety sector is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to support daily production and lead initiatives for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background with PCBA experience and skills in electronic test systems. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the introduction of new processes and products into manufacturing, ensuring compliance and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Strong electronics bias in manufacturing/production engineering.
  • Experience in PCBA manufacturing and electronic test systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and right to work.

Overview

Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Type: Full-time, Permanent

A well-established UK manufacturer within the life safety sector, backed by a FTSE 100 parent company, is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join its Production Engineering team.

This role will support day-to-day production, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and play a key role in the introduction of new products and processes into manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing teams with hands-on technical problem solving
  • Investigate and resolve recurring quality, process, and downtime issues
  • Lead CI and structured problem-solving activities (RCA / 8D)
  • Support NPI activities and process introductions
  • Create and maintain SOPs, BOMs, and routings
  • Monitor and improve PCBA test performance and yield
  • Update test specifications, limits, and software
  • Liaise with PCBA suppliers and test equipment providers
  • Work closely with Quality and Supply Chain to ensure compliance
Qualifications
  • Manufacturing/Production Engineering background with strong electronics bias
  • Proven PCBA manufacturing experience
  • Good understanding of electronic test systems and data analysis
  • LabVIEW and TestStand experience highly desirable
  • Knowledge of WATS or similar tools beneficial
  • Experience managing change and leading CI activities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence & RTW
