Job description

If you are a Production Controller / Planner with strong ERP / MRP skills, we may have just the role for you. Ideally, the successful candidate will be flexible, self-motivated and accurate.

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB

To control and progress the manufacture of all products from receipt of order through to despatch, whilst ensuring backlog and shortages are kept to a minimum.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that purchased piece parts and raw materials are ordered/scheduled in line with demand and forecast and targeted inventory levels are not exceeded.
  • Ensure that supplier schedules are maintained and agreed with suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Expedite internal and external suppliers to ensure that deliveries against purchase and production orders are met and that shortages are kept to a minimum.
  • Maintain and co-ordinate the manufacturing plans, releasing route cards in line with the plans.
  • Ensure that route cards are raised and loaded to the shop floor in adequate time to meet customer requirements.
  • Raise rework orders as and when required.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance and control of data on the computer system.
  • Assist in the generation and maintenance of the Bill of Material files through new product release and in response to Engineering Change Notes.
  • Ensure that all the requirements of stock control and perpetual inventory are met and that stock discrepancies are investigated and satisfactorily resolved.
  • Maintain stock levels and purchases within target/budget levels. Raise Purchase Orders in accordance with Purchasing Procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate filing system for all production orders, purchase orders and associated paperwork.
  • Assist in the implementation of new products and the efficient phase-out of old products to minimise stock obsolescence.
  • Vet orders against forecast/current production schedules and highlight potential problems.
  • Provide an accurate and fast response to sales requirements and ensure that demands are properly planned and information regarding availability is communicated to Sales.
