Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Product Designer to join our Product Team, working from home. You will join us on full‑time, fixed‑term contract for 12 months, and in return, you will receive a salary ranging from £50,434 to £54,037 per annum.

Royal Voluntary Service is a historic charity that mobilises volunteers to support individuals, local communities and public health services across the UK.

We’re currently undergoing a significant digital transformation programme and as part of this work, we have launched GoVo, a cutting‑edge greenfield platform to ignite a volunteering revolution. This includes a design system specifically built by Royal Voluntary Service for GoVo.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Product Designer to help guide the design of this platform.

This is a highly collaborative role working in a cross‑functional team to help understand user problems, develop iterative design options, and test ideas extensively to make sure we understand and meet our user’s needs.

This role requires strong communication skills and problem‑solving abilities in addition to deep user understanding. This role will also work closely with the tech team and the rest of the product team to ensure a high‑quality user experience on GoVo.

Location : Home Based with National travel

Hours : 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Knowledge
  • A strong understanding of Agile development practices and methodologies
  • A good understanding of user‑centred design and interaction design principles
  • UX research methods and usability testing
  • Strong knowledge of application design practices, technologies, and methodologies
Skills

Job Responsibilities

  • Designing intuitive and elegant solutions that solve user and business problems and meet specified requirements
  • Building customer focused features which prioritise discovery, ease of use and delight
  • Building back‑office featured which prioritise efficiency
  • Using user‑centred design principles and practices to shape the user journey
  • Iterative user research, testing, and qualitative analysis

Carrying out 1 : 1 user interviews or group interviews to get rapid qualitative feedback

  • Managing user testing at scale using a testing platform to get feedback from a wider range of users
  • Developing design systems and rapid prototyping
Quickly testing and validating new ideas
  • Building out shared components in our design system which make it easy for all team members to quickly build innovative but consistent designs
  • Working with product management to create and scope features and see them through to delivery

Being involved with the design of features at every stage of the development process
