Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Property Procurement team as a Procurement Executive responsible for shelving & shopfitting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop strong, collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders around the business to support and deliver sub category plans. These plans will be aligned to the category procurement strategy, as well as Product, Customer and Transformation, to realise business savings and support innovation. They will also be aligned to the Property development programme for 25/26 and beyond.

The focus of the role is to actively minimise operational and capital costs through use of agreed tools, processes, and best practice. The right candidate will have strong prioritisation skills, be organised and financially aware as well as responsive to the needs of the business. They will be used to influencing both internally and externally and will have experience of dealing with a wide supply base.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Tesco and its subsidiaries to offer contractual support, sourcing strategies, project delivery support, and supplier relationship management.
  • Proactive communications with the buying, Transformation, Property and Design teams respectively, to support the procurement of current or emerging product categories.
  • Conducting supplier negotiations to support competitive tendering activities using a tendering portal.
  • Maintain effective supplier relationships and performance management.
  • Negotiate and implement contracts for Goods not for resale (Property category) with a focus on value delivery and efficiency, whilst balancing and managing risk in an ever-evolving market.
  • Manage and lead the end-to-end procurement process for both Opex and Capex projects.
  • Develop and deliver category plans that align with broader category objectives by collaborating innovatively with cross-functional teams.
  • Support your category and Tesco in achieving compliance with legal, ethical, and safety procurement policies.
  • Demonstrate integrity and sound judgement at all times.
  • Prior Procurement or Buying experience.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving approach.
  • Multi-tasking and resilient.
  • Strong negotiation skills and understanding of running sourcing events.
  • Adaptable in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo to deliver efficiencies and innovation.
  • Able to collaborate well and build working relationships with peers and senior stakeholders across different teams.
  • The successful candidate needs to be flexible to work in our Head Office in Welwyn Garden City 3 days per week, with occasional flexibility to work from home.
