Overview
Our client is committed to decarbonising hard‑to‑abate sectors by unlocking the full potential of biomethane production in the UK. They create and procure biogas from anaerobic digestion facilities, upgrade it to biomethane, and use the low‑carbon fuel to power vehicles and inject it into the gas grid for renewable heat. The company is expanding rapidly and is developing multi‑year contracts and projects in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Deliver project tasks and designs, working with the Head of Engineering, internal team, and process contractors/suppliers at various stages of the project life cycle to meet specification, time frames, and budgets.
- Coordinate and support staff within multidisciplinary teams; take ownership of tasks and contribute to business growth.
- Produce process designs and specifications, conduct process calculations, develop process flow diagrams, and produce specifications.
- Participate in process reviews such as HAZOPs and ALM’s.
- Apply understanding of regulations and guidance for CNG, DSEAR, and biogas/biomethane technologies.
- Support the development of new and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or similar.
- Be a Chartered Engineer or Scientist, or close to achieving Chartered status with a recognised Professional Institution.
- Experience in process design, operation and optimisation, troubleshooting, compliance in Anaerobic Digestion, CNG, liquid organic waste management and biogas production.
- Understanding of anaerobic digestion and sludge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams at all levels.
- Self‑motivated with good organisational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent IT skills; additional knowledge of CAD, 3D modelling, and process modelling software is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence, prepared for regular UK and occasional overseas travel.
- Ability to work flexibly, adaptively, and agilely as the company moves to a more flexible working arrangement.
