Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Scunthorpe is seeking a qualified Process Engineer to maintain production processes and optimize equipment in line with KPIs. The role involves adherence to health and safety standards, development of lean manufacturing practices, and collaboration with teams on improvement plans. Essential qualifications include an equivalent in injection moulding and strong communication skills. The position offers a 3 shift rotation and requires a proactive problem-solving attitude.

Qualifications

  • In-depth working knowledge in practical tool setting and processing.
  • Computer literate or willing to learn.
  • Numerate and literate to minimum O Level / GCSE 'C'.

Artifex Interior Systems is pleased to confirm the below opportunity within our business:

Process Engineer

Working hours for this position will be a 3 shift rotation (10pm to 6am, 2pm to 10pm, 6am to 2pm), changing on a weekly basis, totalling 37.5 hours per week.

Main purpose of the job
  • To maintain production processes, machine outputs and optimisation of equipment in line with KPI's
Main missions and results
  • Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety procedures. Be proactive in the raising of potential H&S issues and the development of personal safety awareness.
  • Fully understand and ensure procedural adherence to all company business operating systems.
  • Develop best practice methodology and procedures in line with SMED, 5s Kaizen methods and train Shift personal accordingly.
  • Monitor tool change time progress and identify and implement improvement plans in place to meet set objectives.
  • Maintain standard process setting data for use in the SMS database. Ensure all processes are standardised and maintained in accordance with the data.
  • Analyse OEE data against site targets and manage improvement plans with respect to performance, availability and process scrap.
  • Develop and manage improvement plans with respect to weight reduction, cycle time reduction and labour efficiency.
  • Actively explore new process technology for suitability to the business.
  • Attend relevant internal and external trial activities for New Product Introduction.
  • Develop and implement process layouts considering best practice in lean manufacturing.
  • Maintain and up-date process equipment specifications and ensure wherever possible the standardisation of equipment configuration.
  • Co-ordinate and implement actions, as a result of trials and customer requests, internal problem follow-up sheets and customer ECR's.
  • Completion of all relevant paperwork to allow support functions to operate.
Essential

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Equivalent qualification in Injection Moulding and Processing to BPTA PTL GA Level 3/4
  • In depth working knowledge in practical tool setting and processing
  • Influencing and persuasive style with a “Can Do” attitude with propensity to problem solve
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks on shift
  • Computer literate, or willing to learn
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
Desirable
  • HND / Degree Level in Engineering
  • Numerate and literate to minimum O Level / GCSE “C”
  • Experience of tool setting in a high-volume automative environment
  • Experience of Microsoft Office packages, such as Excel / Word
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies – 5S, Kaizen, SMED, etc.
