Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Structural Technician to join their expanding team in Birmingham. You will lead the production of Structural Engineering drawings, manage multiple BIM projects, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in Structural Engineering, excellent project management skills, and is chartered or nearing chartered status. This role offers the chance to work on diverse projects across sectors such as logistics, healthcare, and residential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in Structural Engineering or similar.
• Experience with large scale, complex, multi-phase developments.
• Proficient in project management and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead production of Structural Engineering drawings at all project stages.
• Maintain and develop company standards.
• Ensure compliance and quality-check project models/drawings.
• Oversee and manage multiple BIM projects.
• Prepare and manage project documentation.
• Support Engineers in developing design solutions.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement.
• Mentor and supervise junior technicians.

Principal Structural Technician

Birmingham

Our client is an established Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy who is seeking an experienced Principal Structural Technician to join their growing team in Birmingham. The opportunity arises from continued business growth and an increasing pipeline of technically diverse projects across various sectors throughout the UK. They have multiple offices across the UK and deliver complex projects across all sectors, specialising in industry and logistics, education, healthcare, residential, retail and regeneration.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of duties. These include:

• leading the production of Structural Engineering drawings at all project stages
• maintaining and developing company standards
• ensuring compliance
• reviewing and quality-checking projects models and drawings
• overseeing and managing multiple BIM projects
• preparing and managing project documentation
• supporting Engineers in developing design solutions
• liaising with clients and stakeholders
• contributing to continuous improvement
• mentoring and supervising junior technicians

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in Structural Engineering (or a similar field), experience with large scale, complex, multi-phase developments, have experience in project management and contract administration and be chartered (or close to) with EngTech, IENG or IStructE.
