Are you a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take ownership of exciting workplace fit-out projects across London and beyond My client, a respected and forward-thinking building services consultancy, is looking for a talented individual to join their growing team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.

About the Role

As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you ll lead the mechanical design process on high-profile commercial projects, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that meet client expectations and industry standards. You ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to work across all RIBA stages.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and is passionate about technical excellence and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design on workplace fit-out projects
  • Deliver sustainable and technically sound solutions
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets
  • Represent my client in client meetings and presentations
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
  • Ensure all work aligns with company procedures and quality standards
  • Actively participate in training and industry events to stay ahead
What We re Looking For
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, BSc, or MEng)
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, IET)
  • Proven experience as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in building services
  • Strong fit-out experience (workplace preferred, retail acceptable)
  • Proficiency in Hevacomp or IES software
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
