Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Our client is a leading design and build contractor delivering critical clean and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to sustained growth, they are looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to take a leading role within their London-based team.

This is a senior position offering real influence over technical delivery, standards, and team development within a highly respected water-focused consultancy.

The Role

As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

• Lead the electrical design of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to detailed design
• Act as technical authority for electrical engineering across multiple schemes
• Produce, review, and approve electrical designs, specifications, and calculations
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers within the team
• Work closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary design teams
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements

About You

• A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
• Extensive experience in water or wastewater infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of LV/HV systems, MCCs, control panels, and associated infrastructure
• Proven experience leading electrical design teams or complex work packages
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style
• Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
