Job description
Overview

A vacancy for a Principal Clinical Scientist in the Radiotherapy Physics Department at the Royal Preston Hospital, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will join a multidisciplinary team and work in the Imaging and Clinical Computing section, acting as a Medical Physics Expert within the wider radiotherapy department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide MPE level support and partake in a wide range of clinical duties from treatment planning and quality control to research and innovation.
  • Support management of a wide range of radiotherapy systems and collaborate with the Trust IT department to ensure effective system and data governance and the safe delivery of state‑of‑the‑art radiotherapy.
  • Join an enthusiastic team and contribute to ongoing developments and maintenance of radiotherapy services.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • HCPC registered as a clinical scientist.
  • Have or be close to gaining Medical Physics Expert certification by RPA2000.
Rosemere Cancer Centre and Department
  • Rosemere Cancer Centre is on the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Royal Preston Hospital site and provides an external beam radiotherapy service for the adult population of Lancashire and South Cumbria (1.6 million population).
  • Eight clinical Elekta linacs (including two Harmony Pro linacs), all with Vision RT surface guided technology, CBCT, flattening filter free treatment capability and equipped with Response ABC system.
  • Two dedicated Philips Big Bore CT scanners with Vision RT surface guided technology.
  • MOSAIQ and SYNERGISTIQ.
  • Treatment planning conducted on Pinnacle; some planning on Raystation.
  • Independent VMAT plan verification using Sun Nuclear DoseCHECK.
  • Commissioned to provide SABR for primary lung tumours and oligometastases (non-spine and spine, lung, liver and adrenal) in addition to intracranial SRS.
  • Current and upcoming developments include: commissioning and implementation of Monaco TP system, commissioning of Elekta EVO linac, evaluation of Sun Nuclear PerFRACTION for pre-treatment and in vivo QA, rollout of Vision RT for all sites (tattoo‑less radiotherapy for some sites).
  • Implementation of Elekta ONE Smart View.
