Our client is looking to recruit an exceptional Principal Civil Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary Water Team, where you will play a key role in delivering a wide range of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
This role would be suited to someone who offers a fresh approach to conventional thinking and works collaboratively to meet a wide range of business, environmental, and regulatory difficulties for their clients.
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will produce technical designs, specifications and reports for a large variety of projects in terms of size, type, and complexity, both single discipline and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The role:
- Supporting the Project Manager/Water Sector Director to clarify the project brief (agree on deliverables, key milestones, project methodology etc).
- Manage C&S design delivery across projects in single or multi-discipline teams.
- Undertake significant elements of the detailed design and checking of outputs as directed (e.g. calculations, drawings, sketches, reports etc) to achieve the optimum solution for the project.
- Assessing, documenting and communicating design changes to the Project Manager.
- Be aware of work requirements and take personal responsibility in delivering this to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
- Attend “close-out meetings” and recommend/implement improvements to policy, processes and project management methods through our Perfect Delivery platform.
- Be involved in business development activities including assisting with the preparation of capability statements and the submission of pre-qualification questionnaires and expressions of interest and tenders.
What you need to succeed:
- Experience managing wastewater and/ or water schemes.
- Good knowledge of industry design software packages.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player with an assured, positive and enthusiastic attitude in communicating effectively with clients and the wider teams.
- Experience mentoring, coaching and supervising a team.
- You will be degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or another relevant subject.
- You will ideally be an Incorporated or Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM.
