About the Energy Strategy & Planning Team

The Energy Strategy & Planning Team is at an exciting time in its journey. As the UK energy system decarbonisation agenda accelerates, the market for strategic energy advisory services is expanding rapidly. Our team is set to grow over the coming years to meet this demand, offering talented professionals the chance to shape the future of energy in the UK.

Your new role

As a Principal or Associate Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in delivering complex energy strategy and planning projects, with a focus on UK power systems and integration of storage and flexibility solutions. You will act as Project Manager (PM) on large or strategically important projects, requiring minimal support, and will contribute to the team’s business plan and growth.

Your key responsibilities will be
  • Technical Advisory Skills- Apply knowledge to energy system planning, integrated solutions, and policy. Facilitate stakeholder engagement with authorities and industry partners.
  • Project Delivery- Manage large, complex projects, including execution plans, programming, budgets, and resource plans. Promote digital transformation and share lessons learned post-project.
  • Sales and Business Development- Coordinate bids, drive efficient responses and fee planning, lead sales activities in strategic areas, network with clients to inform strategies, and represent the team at key events and conferences.
  • Team Management and Development- Support junior team members’ wellbeing and career progression, lead team management solutions independently, coordinate projects, bids, sales activities, and team resourcing to balance workloads.
  • Communication- Design and facilitate productive workshops, confidently present work, and clearly communicate with clients, responding effectively to questions.
About you
  • Proven expertise in energy system planning, including integrated systems, flexibility, storage, electrification, commercial models, and policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver complex projects, including project planning, budgeting, and resource management, with minimal support.
  • Confident communicator, able to present work to clients, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and design high-quality client outputs (reports, presentations, digital communication).
  • Experience supporting team development and management, including mentoring junior colleagues and coordinating team activities.
  • (Desirable) Strong technical skills in energy systems modelling, techno-economic analysis, and optimisation, with experience applying digital tools such as GIS/mapping and data analytics.
