Job description
Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner (SPCMHP)

Band 6 – £38,682 – £46,580 per annum. Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Base: Mid Essex – South Woodham Ferrers / Dengie.

About the role

EPUT is transforming our community mental health services in line with the NHS 5‑Year forward plan and increased government funding. This post is full time but offers flexibility to spread the hours over 4 or 5 days, supporting work–life balance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a seamless service to aid the patient’s recovery and well‑being plans in the community.
  • Work with the GP, primary care team and consultant psychiatrists to ensure patients are supported in the most appropriate clinical environment from a multidisciplinary perspective.
  • Maintain safe clinical practice, upholding Care Quality Commission standards and the NHS Constitution.
  • Triage patients and facilitate receipt of the most appropriate support, preventing patients from being passed around the system.
  • Deliver effective and safe services that support Clinical/Practice governance.
  • Support continuous improvement in service quality, safeguarding high standards of care and fostering an environment of excellence.
  • Provide and undertake detailed physical health investigations such as BMI, blood pressure and blood tests, as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Experience in a mental health setting.
  • Good oral communication skills; fluent in English.
  • Ability to manage difficult situations sensitively, with tolerance and objectivity.
  • Driving essential due to limited public transport in the Colne Valley area.
