Inspector – Pressure Equipment

Location: Field Based North West
Job Type: Full-time Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection, and certification company, is currently seeking a dedicated and technically competent Inspector to join our Industrial Services team. In this role, you’ll perform inspections across a range of systems on pressure equipment and manufacturers, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and European directives.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections on pressure containment equipment in line with relevant UK and European legislation
• Fulfil duties of an Inspector
• Work independently and safely in the field, supporting clients with timely and accurate inspections.
• Technical background in mechanical engineering or hands-on experience in field inspections
• Proficiency in IT systems, particularly MS Office
• Ability to work autonomously, adapt quickly, and manage changing priorities
• Familiarity with pressure and mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (ADR) or related industry experience

Experience Required

• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining precision and attention to detail
• Demonstrable success in fulfilling customer requirements
• Experience working both independently and as part of a team
• Technical report writing or documentation
• On-site inspection work within the UK

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) grade A–C including Maths and English
• Full and valid Driving Licence to use in the UK
• To have or undertake certification in Confined Spaces
• Formal engineering qualifications (e.g. HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar)
