Job description
Overview

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician to study towards a national qualification leading to registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The role is a 27‑month training post based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in a rotational timetable covering inpatient and clinical trials dispensaries, aseptic areas for TPN and cytotoxic manufacturing, medicines information stores and distribution and procurement, clinical ward pharmacy services, and medicines optimisation.
  • Supervised training and blended learning through a GPhC‑accredited programme, including 20% off‑the‑job learning time.
  • Allocate 6–8 study hours per week in own time plus weekly allocated study sessions at work.
  • Complete all theoretical and practical training to meet provider requirements in a timely manner.
  • Attend planned training events, professional development opportunities, and weekend/public holiday rota services.
Qualifications
  • UK resident for the last three years with a right to work in the UK.
  • No sponsorship support for this post.
  • Commitment to a 27‑month training period with final registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
Benefits
  • Monthly pay at Annex 21: 70% of top of Band 4 in the first year, 75% in the second year.
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility outside core hours and weekend and bank holiday rota work.
