About the role

Become part of the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years! Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Pre Construction Engineer on the Hinkley Point Project and develop your career with this exciting project.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station in over 20 years in the UK; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in revitalizing our nuclear industry, Hinkley Point C will significantly contribute to the UK's efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Its two EPR reactors will offset approximately 9 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

What you'll be doing
  1. Deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and record work information in AS9 for installation preparation.
  2. Support the MEH Alliance programme by delivering Mechanical & Piping Construction Work Packs.
  3. Identify available Workfront for the discipline through constructability reviews and installation schedules.
  4. Determine key materials needed to facilitate installation and request temporary devices as required.
  5. Coordinate topographical and other surveying needs for construction works.
  6. Ensure document compliance with latest works information and other documentation, requesting clarifications or proposing changes when necessary.
  7. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and procedures.
  8. Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licensing requirements.
Who we're looking for
  1. Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training, or experience in installing Mechanical and Piping systems.
  2. Proven experience in a highly regulated sector, preferably nuclear.
  3. Experience working on major construction projects.
  4. Experience at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
  5. Ability to achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or higher).
