Willesden Green Surgery is a friendly and rapidly growing GP practice in North West London. We are a young, forward-thinking team of four GP Partners caring for over 14,000 patients, with exciting plans for further premises growth - and listed for GP Award of the Year 2025.
We are looking to welcome an experienced Practice Nurse to join our vibrant, supportive team. We are looking for 2 days a week - Tuesday and Thursday 9am to 6pm. This is a fixed-term contract from October 2025 to July 2026, in view to making this a permanent contract.
Experience as a GP Practice Nurse and use of EMIS Web are essential.
Responsibilities
- Managing patients health and carrying out basic observations
- Child and adult immunisations, including baby vaccines
- Cervical smears
- ECGs, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and blood pressure checks
- Wound care, dressings, removal of sutures/clips, and foot checks
- Routine and travel vaccinations, routine injections, contraception, and health screening
- Advising patients on health promotion, diet, lifestyle, and minor ailments
- Supporting chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension)
- Assisting with minor procedures and IUCD/IUS fittings
Additional responsibilities
- Acting as Infection Control Lead and supporting safe clinical practice
- Developing and maintaining practice policies and protocols in collaboration with the Practice Manager
- Accurate record-keeping and clinical documentation on EMIS Web
- Stock management, equipment maintenance, and vaccine storage
- Contributing to audits, quality improvement projects, and practice meetings
What we’re looking for
- A qualified and experienced Practice Nurse with current NMC registration
- Previous experience in a GP practice, with EMIS Web competence
- Confidence in managing a wide range of clinical tasks independently
- A proactive team player who is flexible, organised, and committed to high-quality patient care

- Previous experience working as a Practice Nurse in a GP surgery

- Awareness of local and national health priorities (e.g. NHS Long Term Plan, vaccination programmes)
- Understanding of population health management and health inequalities
- Leadership or supervisory experience within a nursing team

- Enthusiasm for innovation and supporting practice growth
