Overview

This role offers an exciting opportunity to help deliver multi‑professional training to meet local and national requirements of our Midwifery and Obstetric Teams, ensuring safe, quality care for all maternity service users and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Support the service in ensuring the provision of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for mothers and babies, within available resources.
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of a specialist educational and development strategy and programmes for maternity services.
  • Develop innovative approaches to teaching, research and service provision to be at the forefront of patient care developments.
  • Support the development and delivery of learning for all staff contributing to maternity care as specified in the Maternity Training Needs Analysis trust document.
  • Participate in, facilitate and monitor training, the individualised induction programme and preceptorship of new midwifery staff.
  • Influence and contribute to the development of the unit’s education strategy.
  • Develop, co‑ordinate and evaluate the effectiveness of skills and drills training related to emergency responses, supporting the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective action.
  • Promote and develop appropriate training to promote effective midwifery care and minimise unnecessary intervention.

Location: University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay – Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital, plus associated community premises.
