A key player in the energy infrastructure sector is seeking a Power System Planning Engineer to join their team in Belfast (Hybrid). This role involves technical assessments and influencing future power system efficiency and reliability. Ideal candidates will have a degree in engineering and at least 2 years of relevant experience. We are hiring for our client, a key player in the energy infrastructure sector, who is seeking a Power System Planning Engineer to join their dynamic team in Belfast (Hybrid). This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape Northern Ireland’s transmission network and contribute to the energy transition towards a low-carbon future.
As a Power System Planning Engineer, you’ll report directly to the Head of Networks, working on technical assessments and optioneering of grid solutions. You will influence how the future power system develops and ensure its efficiency, reliability, and security.

Carry out steady state load flow, voltage, short circuit, and transient stability analysis
Develop and assess network reinforcement options and recommend optimal solutions
Assess and advise on the connection of new generation and demand to the grid
Use industry tools such as PSS/E or PowerFactory
Liaise with key stakeholders including regulators, government departments, and customers
Deliver well-reasoned technical reports and contribute to governance and project planning
A degree in engineering or equivalent (electrical engineering preferred)
2+ years’ post-graduate experience in a relevant technical or energy-related role
Exposure to or experience in power systems analysis (e.g., load flow, voltage, short circuit)
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environment
Advantageous: experience with Python, PSSE, PowerFactory, or working in a regulated environment
