Job description

This is a Post CCT Fellowship in Functional Neurological Disorder for neurologists. The remit of the postholder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist care for patients with FND, while also supporting the implementation and evaluation of a new care pathway and contributing to education across the regional network.

The fellowship will provide clinical training and experience to allow the fellow to practice independently as a specialist in FND. Alongside this, the postholder will develop skills in action research, service development, and education. There will also be optional exposure to another subspecialty area of neuropsychiatry, depending on individual interest.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a clinical service for patients with FND, including new assessments, follow-up, and ward referrals.
  • Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to collaborative formulation and management planning.
  • Provide education, support and supervision for clinicians across the FNDExSEL network.
  • Contribute to service evaluation and pathway development through data collection, analysis and action research.
  • Undertake optional specialist clinic sessions in another area of neuropsychiatry (e.g. epilepsy, movement disorders, brain injury, autoimmune encephalitis, or cognitive disorders).
  • Engage in postgraduate teaching and support the wider academic programme.
  • Contribute to audit, clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake personal study, with the option to attend elements of the MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry at KCL.
