Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Post Anaesthetic Care Practitioner at Sefton Suite Private Patient Unit, based within the grounds of Aintree University Hospital Trust, for a HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN to join the theatre team.

We have one operating theatre covering a wide range of major specialities:

  • General
  • Urology
  • Breast
  • Endocrine
  • Upper G I
  • Colorectal
  • Orthopaedics
  • Head & Neck & Cosmetics

We are excited to welcome an experienced post anaesthetic care practitioner to our team. We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to work within our busy operating theatre & recovery, in a supportive, team‑oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe admission of care and discharge of all patients from the theatre back to the ward or critical care.
  • Assist in the day‑to‑day running of the recovery area, ensuring effective communication with theatres and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate all aspects of patient care for the immediate post‑operative patient.
  • Offer support and guidance to staff, using communication and team working skills to contribute to the recovery area.
  • Maintain awareness of, and comply with, HCPC/NMC code of professional conduct, Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure effective communication at all levels and disciplines, including confidentiality and Caldicott principles.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with HCPC/NMC standards and Caldicott report.
  • Support patients, families and staff effectively communicating sensitive, confidential information with empathy, negotiation and reassurance.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • HCPC/NMC registered ODP/RN.
  • Demonstrable evidence of ongoing specialist professional development via a personal professional portfolio and the NHS knowledge and skills framework.
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver expert, skilled care to highly dependent patients in a specialised area.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to deliver the best possible outcomes for patients within our busy theatre.
Working Pattern

Shift patterns include evenings and weekends. Participation in an on‑call rota may be required, depending on service needs.
