Job Overview

We are seeking a General Operative to join our Highways Term Maintenance Contract in Luton. The role involves working with both direct labour and subcontract labour to meet targets and deadlines. Key duties include operating mechanical plant, kerb laying, drainage works, emergency call-out work, and tarmacking.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations with direct and subcontract labour.
  • Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and emergency responses.
  • Operate and maintain mechanical plant and related equipment.
  • Conduct kerb laying, drainage, and tarmacking activities to industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the traffic management division to support project goals.
Qualifications
  • Previous highways maintenance experience.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Good standard of English communication skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety, including mandatory drug & alcohol screening.
