Porter

We are looking for a Porter to join us. Experience in a similar role would be desirable but enthusiasm and experience of working in a team are equally important.

Band 2 position

On a varying shift pattern of 0700-1500 and 1100-1900 over a 3 week rolling pattern, that includes 2 out of 3 weekends.

Successful candidates will be reliable, flexible, and good team players who possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

Applicants must have a Full UK Driving Licence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wear correct and clean uniform whilst on duty.
  • Attend departmental meetings as appropriate.
  • Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
Main tasks

The following gives an overview of the key main tasks for this role, but tasks may vary depending on team or location.

Portering Responsibilities
  • Collection and delivery of goods.
  • Collection and delivery of medical gas cylinders.
  • Transportation of patients between wards and departments, if required on an occasional ad hoc basis.
  • Waste Management collection.
  • Use of franking machine and letter sorting.
  • Driving vehicles around site to collect waste. Full training will be provided.
  • Transportation of food trollies from Catering department to the ward areas.
Patient/Customer Care Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business and meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (2018) at all times.
  • Communicate with colleagues, other members of staff, patients, visitors and members of the public.
