Pay Rate to Intermediary: £25.40 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for a Police Staff Investigator for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POLICE STAFF INVESTIGATOR
  • Qualified PIP 2 investigator – having passed the NIE, DDP course and successfully completed tutorship and portfolio.
  • Conduct and carry out investigations relating to Public Protection areas of responsibility at the direction of managers
  • Work with witnesses, draft and take statements as required.
  • Take possession of and accurately record exhibits in accordance with legal requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Take part in multiagency meetings to share information and safeguard vulnerable individuals.
  • Produce relevant reports/files – prepare files for presentation to the CPS and present evidence which may be used in court (criminal/family).
  • Work to an agreed case investigation plan and adhere to time guidelines.
  • To work closely as OIC with CPS lawyers and prosecution barristers and attend all meetings and conferences.
  • Attend court hearings and trials as OIC and witness and give evidence where required.
  • Maintain and use a good working knowledge of Legislation, Policy and Procedure
  • Update databases and charts for use in case investigation and presentation.
  • Prioritise and organise own workload to ensure adherence to required timescales.
  • Contribute to the development of intelligence relating to Public Protection areas of business by using analytical skills and reviewing of databases, collect and input intelligence where required
  • Collate documentary evidence for the preparation of civil orders and disruption processes, liaising with legal departments as necessary.
  • Liaise with other forces and outside agencies to further investigations or identify risk
  • Drive police vehicles (unmarked). Must be prepared to travel in order to progress an investigation.
  • Escort prisoners if required
  • Maintain an accurate record of daily activities using an Investigators Day book or pocket note book
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE POLICE STAFF INVESTIGATOR
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent work experience.
  • Worked within a policing environment and can evidence ability to investigate criminal offences.
  • Can display evidence of knowledge and understanding of criminal law and ability to adhere to legislation, policy and procedure.
  • Can demonstrate ability to work independently and make dynamic decisions
  • PIP 2 qualified
  • Excellent communication (written / verbal)
  • Resilient team player
  • Trauma informed
  • Any additional skills regarding Child Abuse investigation, Exploitation, or SUDIC (Child Death) would be welcome, as would experience of disclosure or advanced interviewing (suspect or victims)
