Job description

Lancaster University is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive PMO Analyst to join our Project Management Office within the Information Systems Services Department (ISS). This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of strategic and operational projects that enhance teaching, research, student experience, and institutional effectiveness.

Reporting to the Head of Projects and Portfolio, the PMO Analyst will provide high-quality PMO analysis, support, and project governance activities. The role involves collating and analyzing information across the portfolio, producing key reports, and providing insights for governance boards. The analyst will also serve as the secretariat for several governance groups and undertake assignments across project and service functions as needed.

You will collaborate closely with the programme team and wider stakeholders, building effective relationships at all levels and offering support.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Track project, programme, and portfolio metrics such as milestones, resource requirements, risks, issues, benefits, and change control management for ISS projects and programmes aligned with the University's strategic priorities.
  2. Support the design, development, and implementation of project tools and systems, including the team's intranet, PPM tools, Jira, and capacity planning tools. Seek innovations to improve practices and processes.
  3. Facilitate lessons learned and knowledge sharing across relevant communities of practice.
  4. Work closely with project managers, academic departments, and professional services to ensure alignment and compliance with governance processes.
  5. Manage the ISS Resource portfolio, including resource allocation and risk highlighting.

  • Experience in a Project Analyst role
  • Knowledge of project delivery governance approaches and techniques
  • Experience in resource management across a project delivery portfolio
  • Coaching experience and the confidence to provide constructive challenge
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team and develop effective stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including academic and professional staff
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

The role is primarily based on Lancaster University's Bailrigg campus, with flexible hybrid working options supporting a positive work-life balance. A minimum of two days per week in the office is expected.
