A dedicated educational service provider is seeking experienced PMLD Tutors to support students with profound disabilities across Birmingham. This role involves creating personalized learning plans, providing emotional support, and collaborating with multi-agency teams. Connex Education is seeking compassionate and committed PMLD Tutors to support learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) who are currently unable to access mainstream education.
This is a deeply rewarding opportunity to work on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping students develop essential life skills, communication abilities, and confidence through highly personalised teaching. You’ll be more than a tutor—you’ll be a consistent, trusted adult helping young people overcome barriers to learning and personal development.
Plan, prepare, and deliver individualised learning activities tailored to students with complex needs.
Use multi-sensory and therapeutic approaches to engage and support learning.
Work closely with parents, carers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistency and care.
Focus on developing communication, sensory, physical, and independence skills in line with EHCP targets.
Provide emotional and behavioural support, promoting a sense of safety, calm, and achievement.
Maintain detailed records of progress, attendance, and engagement.
Implement individual care routines sensitively and appropriately where required.
Ensure all safeguarding, health & safety, and inclusion policies are rigorously upheld.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, HLTA status, or experienced SEND support staff/tutors welcome.
Proven experience working with students with PMLD, complex medical needs, or profound disabilities.
Understanding of PECS, Makaton, sensory integration, postural management, or physiotherapy routines (advantageous).
Empathetic, patient, and creative—able to think outside the box and adapt to each learner’s unique profile.
Confident working independently and in collaboration with multi-agency teams.
Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential).
