Job summary

A public sector organization is seeking a Platform Engineer to join their Site Resilience team in Edinburgh. This role involves enhancing the storage and computing platform, implementing efficiency improvements, and managing platform health and security. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in VMware, Cisco UCS, and disaster recovery planning. The position offers a £460 daily rate, is outside IR35, and provides remote work options with occasional office meetings in Edinburgh. A 6-month contract with potential for extension is available.

Qualifications

• Experience with VMware 6/7/8.X in multi-site environments.
• Proficient with Cisco UCS configuration and management.
• Knowledge of NSX environments for network virtualization.

• Experience in disaster recovery planning and execution.

Job description

Morgan Hunt are working with a public sector organisation to recruit a Platform Engineer to work in the organisations Site Resilience team. The purpose of the role is to support and enhance the existing storage and computing platform. This includes implementing efficiency savings and additions to the existing platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute and plan towards adoption of NVMe
• Continue to enhance organisational resilience position
• Enhance and expand Commvault backup service
• Improve platform engineering for vMotion setup
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including the Product Manager, to define, prioritise and maintain the platform roadmap and backlog.
• Develop, support and continuously improve virtualisation and storage platforms in line with product and architectural roadmaps.
• Ensure platform security, performance, availability and capacity through effective access control, monitoring and optimisation.
• Support application Gains— re-platforming and lead the design, planning and deployment of new technology solutions.
• Manage platform health, data protection, backup and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform‑related issues while continuously improving operational processes.
