A leading energy research organization in the United Kingdom is seeking a Plasma Core Team Leader to enhance research in plasma core physics. The role requires a PhD in plasma physics, with substantial experience in scientific leadership and high-quality publications. The successful candidate will manage a team while conducting their own research and training staff. Salary: £70,505 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected 3 days per week, but flexible working arrangements are supported.
Location: Culham, Oxfordshire.
Employees are required to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
As Plasma Core Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the team delivers high‑quality research in plasma core physics for the UKAEA scientific programme, supporting tokamak projects such as JET, MAST‑U, STEP and ITER. You will line‑manage staff, oversee recruitment, development and performance, and set team priorities in consultation with stakeholders.
