Job description
  • Location: Welwyn
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (12 weeks)
  • Hourly Rate: Negotiable
  • Hours of Work: 37 hours per week

Reed is partnering exclusively with the local council in Welwyn to recruit for a dynamic range of roles within their Planning (Development Management) team. We are currently seeking a Planning Enforcement Officer to Senior Planning Enforcement Officer for a 12-week temporary cover.

Role Overview

This position is office-based with regular site visits required. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating and taking action against breaches of planning control to ensure that development within the Borough complies with planning legislation and permissions/consents, including breaches of the Welwyn Garden City Estate Management Scheme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and take enforcement action against breaches of planning control.
  • Manage a caseload of enforcement cases effectively.
  • Resolve breaches of planning and other legislation.
  • Serve planning enforcement notices as necessary.
  • Interpret proposals for development or breaches against planning policy, the policy framework, and the legal framework of the Town and Country Planning Acts.
  • Read and interpret building plans against planning policy and legal frameworks.
Requirements
  • Experience working in a Local Authority Planning Enforcement department or in a professional planning role.
  • Proven experience in serving planning enforcement notices.
  • Strong understanding of the development management process including the GPDO and Use Classes Order.
  • Ability to interpret development proposals or breaches against planning policies and legal frameworks.
  • Must be a driver with access to a car insured for business use.
Special Conditions

Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
