About the Role

As a Planning Compliance Officer, you\'ll play a key role in upholding the integrity of our planning system. Your responsibilities will centre on investigating and managing cases of non-compliance with planning permissions, using your judgement, research skills, and ability to negotiate effective solutions.

This includes:

  • Investigating reports of potential planning breaches
  • Conducting thorough site inspections and desk-based research
  • Engaging with stakeholders to resolve issues informally where possible
  • Recommending and preparing formal enforcement actions when required
  • Collaborating with internal teams, statutory bodies, and the public

youll be part of a proactive, supportive enforcement team, working across a diverse geographical area with a wide range of planning challenges and opportunities.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone with:

  • A solid understanding of Town and Country Planning legislation, policy, and guidance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Experience in investigating complaints or enforcement issues (preferably planning-related)
  • A proactive, independent approach with the ability to manage caseloads and meet deadlines
  • Confident IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office and digital planning tools
