Overview
A Mechanical & Electrical company is seeking Pipe Fitters and Pipe Welders for various projects located in London and the South East, with an immediate start.
Salary: £320 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Work Arrangement: Permanent (6-month probationary period)

Additional Information

- 45 hours per week, 7am - 4pm, Monday to Friday

Essential Qualifications / Skills
- Relevant City and Guilds Level 2 or 3 Qualification
- Full UK Driving Licence
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain daily site logs, take site inductions, and ensure that paperwork is updated within the site folder.
- Install commercial boiler rooms, including boilers, pumps, and mild steel welded and screwed pipework.
- Fit copper and stainless-steel press-fit pipe and fittings ranging from 15mm - 108mm.
- Install mild steel screwed pipework and fittings from 20mm - 150mm.
- Interpret pipework schematic drawings and install according to these, where available.
- Complete small to medium-sized boiler room and heating/hot water installations without the assistance of pipework drawings.
- Install and hang various styles of radiators and fan convectors, including low surface temperature types.
- Previous experience working in schools with an understanding of the associated risks of working in educational premises.
- Drain and refill heating systems to replace leaking pipework and isolation valves.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (including risk assessments and asbestos awareness).
- Overcome day-to-day challenges such as pipework routes and material availability on-site.
- Welder Requirements: Pre-fabricate sections of pipework and perform positional welds when required.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear understanding of commercial heating installations and hot and cold-water services.
- Ability to work as a lead engineer.
- Experience working in commercial buildings and educational establishments.
- Commercial gas ACS qualifications (preferred but not essential).
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (current).
- Class two MMA welding certification (up-to-date).
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Asbestos awareness.
- Flexible approach to work, especially in schools and commercial buildings, as you may be required to work outside regular hours (evenings and weekends), paid at overtime rates.
- Knowledge of risk assessment processes.
- Takes pride in their work and is a team player.
